Recovery zones for gyms and clubs

A recovery corner in a gym lives or dies on throughput. One tub and forty members after the evening class is not a recovery zone, it is a bottleneck with a queue.

Indicative band: 6.5–32 million RWF, supplied and installed.

Recovery zones for gyms and clubs

Throughput, drainage and the wet floor

We plan around two to four minutes in the water per person and a two-minute changeover, which gives roughly ten to fifteen people per tub per hour at peak. Two tubs and a sauna will serve a busy Kigali gym; a club with squads needs four.

Then we plan for water on the floor, because there will be. Falls to a channel drain, a non-slip surface that survives chlorine, and a towel point that stops people walking wet through the weights floor.

Floor loading

A 900-litre tub is nearly a tonne of water before anyone gets in. On a ground slab that is nothing; on a suspended floor it is a structural question and we ask for the slab detail before we quote. Clubs that skip this step find out the expensive way.

Hygiene in a shared tub

Shared cold water needs circulation, cartridge filtration and an ozone or UV stage, plus a visible cleaning schedule. We also fit a simple rinse shower at the entry point: members rinse before they get in, and the water stays usable for weeks instead of days.

In short

  • 10–15 people per tub per hour at peak — size the number of tubs from your class list
  • Channel drain, falls and a non-slip floor that survives chlorine
  • Slab detail checked before quoting: a 900 l tub is nearly a tonne
  • Circulation, cartridge filtration, ozone or UV, plus a rinse shower at entry
Questions

Gym recovery zones: what we are asked

How much does a two-tub gym recovery zone cost to run?

Chiller electricity is the main line, and in Kigali it is modest because the ambient is low. Filtration cartridges and water are small. We give you a monthly figure with the quote rather than leaving it as a surprise.

Can we add a sauna later?

Plan the power and the drainage now even if you build the sauna in year two. Retrofitting a three-phase run through a finished gym floor costs more than the cabin.

What about padel and tennis clubs?

Same engineering, different peak. Court bookings come in blocks, so the load is spikier — we usually recommend one more tub and a smaller sauna than a gym of the same membership.
