Dust is the enemy of the plant

Savannah dust clogs chiller condensers faster than anything else in the country. We fit washable pre-filters, position units out of the prevailing dust, and shorten the service interval to three months in the dry season. A chiller here that is serviced on a Kigali schedule will fail early.

Off-grid power and water

Most lodges here run on solar with generator backup and trucked or borehole water. That shapes everything: heaters and chillers are the two big loads, so we sequence them in the controls, size the plunge to the water budget, and specify an insulated lid that is actually used, because evaporation in this climate is a real cost.

Cold first, hot second

Our recommendation for most Akagera lodges is to build the plunge and the shaded rest area first, and add a compact sauna later if guests ask. Coming back from a game drive at 35 °C, the cold water is the product.
